Showers of Blessings
Daddy took Karis out to play in the sprinkler tonight. She was hesitant at first. Andy showed her how to run through the water. She would stop short sometimes and the water would catch up. She soon learned to keep going to keep the water from hitting her in the face. By the end of the night she was shrieking with laughter. I think the only thing that made her finally come in was that she got cold. It was so wonderful watching Karis with her daddy. She loves him so much, just as she should.

Dinner and a Movie
After dinner tonight I asked Andy to keep an eye on Karis. I went upstairs to take a shower. When I came back down, Andy showed me this picture. Apparently he asked her if she wanted to watch TV. She turned around and walked into the family room. Scrambled up on the couch, lay back and pulled up a blanket.
It is amazing how much she picks up by watching. We have never told her that she should cover up with a blanket while watching TV on the couch. But both Andy & I have the tendency to do so. And now, so does our daughter. I wonder what else she has pciked up on that we don't realize...

He Ain't Heavy, He's My Riley
When I was pregnant with Karis we wondered how the dogs would react to Karis. We have kept a close eye on the dogs when Karis was around. We still don't allow Karis around Gigi. Riley has always been great with her so we have relaxed our watchfulness. We have put Riley in Karis's playroom with her. She loves to play with him. When Riley is in there with her, inevitably the sounds of Karis's infectous giggle will come wafting down the hallway.
I came around the corner one day and Karis was playing with her wheelbarrow. She had her stuffed beagle in it and was wheeling it around. Then she wanted Riley to get in. A little help resulted in this picture. Karis loved it and Riley was a good sport who earned a treat.

Window on the World
Since the house still isn't baby proofed, we have turned our "formal diningroom" into a playroom for Karis. We have baby gates on the entrances to the room to keep her safe. aka. baby jail! lol
She has most of her toys in there plus a TV/DVD player for watching her DVDs. She loves having this room to roam and dump out all of her toys in. I have learned it's no use trying to keep it even renotely orderly during the day. Soon we will begin working on learning to pick up our toys and put them away.
The large window is great to look out of. I name things for her and we can watch for daddy to come home in the evening. She likes to watch daddy mow the lawn with the big riding mower. She signs dog when the neighborhood dogs come by to put a deposit down on our lawn. She bangs on the window with her rhythm sticks even though she knows she isn't supposed to. I'd like to get a birdbath to put out in the front flower bed for Karis to watch.
While we eventually will turn it back into a diningroom. For now at least, it is my daughter's daily window to the world...
